Breaking Ground

On Monday, 11th February we celebrated the start of an amazing partnership with Anglicare by kicking off with with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on the Shores of Woolooware Bay.

Attended by the Anglicare and Growthbuilt Leadership Teams in addition to our elite team of Consultants and Subcontractors, the event was also officiated by Indigenous representatives and the Sutherland Shire Mayor, Cr. Carmelo Pescoe.

The project, to be built in partnership with Anglicare, will redevelop an old industrial site at Taren Point to a state-of-the-art facility for seniors and the frail aged.

The five apartment-style buildings will provide a total of 185 retirement living units, oriented to receive the morning or afternoon sun. The residential aged care home will accommodate 48 residents and include dementia care facilities.

The old industrial site will be extensively landscaped to provide an attractive space for the residents. It will include raised flower beds, lawns, BBQ gazebos and seating. Indigenous trees, shrubs and ground covering will be chosen for sustainability and low maintenance. The riparian corridors along the drainage channel and foreshore will be retained and revegetated with indigenous plant species.

The redevelopment also incorporates a range of indoor and outdoor recreational and community facilities, including a children’s play area, outdoor seating, craft rooms, respite centre, gym, private cinema and multipurpose community rooms.

“Our plan is to build a modern, attractive village on the shores of Taren Point to cater to the retirement living needs of the local population. It will not only provide a comfortable lifestyle, but peace of mind should our residents’ circumstances change as they age,”
